New Hire: Alison Mahovsky, U.S. Air Force Ceremonial Brass

Alison Mahovsky will be the newest member of the United States Air Force Ceremonial Brass euphonium section. She will begin her position in early June 2020 upon completion of Air Force Basic Military Training. Her primary job will be to honor fallen Airmen of the United States Air Forces by providing musical support at funeral services in Arlington National Cemetery. Additionally, the Ceremonial Brass supports state arrivals at the White House, full-honor arrivals for foreign dignitaries at the Pentagon, patriotic programs, and change of command, retirement and awards ceremonies. Alison is a native of Northern Virginia. She has previously studied with Chief Master Sergeant Jennifer Dayton Cox of the United States Air Force Band, Master Chief Musician (retired) Roger Behrend of the United States Navy Band, and Dr. Brian Bowman, retired United States Navy and Air Force Bands. Alison received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, Master’s Degree in Music Education, and Master’s Degree in Euphonium Performance from the University of North Texas. She holds the typical accolades most noteworthy euphonium players do, but is most proud of her involvement and devotion to the United States Air Force Band throughout the years. Her earliest mentors and teachers were members of the United States Air Force Band. Alison was the winner of the Air Force Band’s Colonel George S. Howard Young Artist Competition in 2010, attended the Air Force Band’s Collegiate Symposium in 2015, and is now excited to be a member of the very group of musicians that inspired and encouraged her from the very start.
