Dr. Jace Vickers is the new Assistant Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Low Brass at East Central University in Oklahoma. He began teaching there in Fall 2018. His duties in this position include teaching applied tuba, euphonium, and trombone; directing athletic pep bands; and conducting the Symphony Band. Dr. Vickers completed his Bachelor of Music Education degree at Troy University and Master’s and Doctoral degrees at the University of Oklahoma. An active performer and presenter, Dr. Vickers has performed with groups such as the Colorado Symphony, the Frontier Brass Band, the Norman Philharmonic, and the Redbud Brass Quintet. He previously held teaching positions at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Central Oklahoma. His students at these institutions have had success in concerto competitions, and MTNA competitions, and in performances at regional tuba/euphonium conferences.
