New Hire: Fletcher Mitchell, South Brisbane Federal Band

Fletcher Mitchell has been appointed Musical Director of the South Brisbane Federal Band (The Feds), a championship-level brass band in Australia. Fletcher is an International Euphonium Soloist based in Brisbane, Australia. He has travelled the world as a guest soloist, conductor, adjudicator and educator including the United States, Canada, Europe, United Kingdom, Asia, the Pacific, and across Australia and New Zealand. He is the euphonium lecturer at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, brass examiner with the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB), and is finalizing his PhD at the University of Southern Queensland. Fletcher is a Yamaha Performing Artist and Clinician.

Chris Dickey Receives Prestigious Teaching Award at Washington State University

Chris Dickey, who currently teaches the tuba and euphonium studio at Washington State University, has received the 2020 WSU President’s Distinguished Teaching Award. This is an honor given to a faculty member in the WSU system who epitomizes the highest levels of performance and excellence and who plays a vital role in teaching WSU students. The president and provost of Washington State University selected Chris for this accolade because of his enthusiastic teaching, national and international presence as an artist-teacher, sustained record of student successes, and innovative pedagogy.
