Chris Dickey Receives Teaching Award at Washington State University

Chris Dickey, who currently teaches the tuba and euphonium studio at Washington State University, has received the 2021 William F. Mullen Memorial Teaching Award from the WSU College of Arts and Sciences. This award is presented annually to a faculty member in the arts, humanities, or social sciences who demonstrates outstanding commitment to teaching and undergraduate education. In his time at WSU, Dr. Dickey has supported students who have garnered accolades in local, state, regional, national, and international competitions. Others have gone on to pursue graduate degrees and public school teaching positions in the Northwest. Aside from teaching tuba and euphonium, Dr. Dickey teaches a popular UCORE arts class covering film music. Dr. Dickey’s other university service roles include positions with the WSU Teaching Academy, the Honors College, and the President’s Commission on Gender Identity/Expression and Sexual Orientation. Dr. Dickey sincerely appreciates colleague Danh Pham for nominating him for this award. Bryson Roberts (BM tuba performance, 2019) and Timothy Schrader (current tuba performance/music education major) also contributed heartfelt letters of support. Dr. Dickey proudly accepts this award on behalf of all his students.
